About this tool

Project timelines, notice periods and service-level agreements are usually measured in working days, not calendar days — and the difference adds up quickly once weekends and holidays are involved. This calculator counts the business days between two dates, automatically excluding Saturdays and Sundays, with the option to also exclude public holidays you specify.

That makes it far more accurate than counting calendar days for anything scheduled around a working week. A two-week window that spans a public holiday and two weekends is noticeably shorter in working days, and knowing the real figure prevents deadlines that quietly slip.

It runs in your browser, so you can plan schedules without sending your dates anywhere. Use it to estimate delivery dates, work out a genuine deadline from a “within N business days” promise, or count the working days in a project phase.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a business day?
A weekday — Monday to Friday — that is not excluded as a holiday. The calculator automatically leaves out Saturdays and Sundays and any public holidays you add.
Can I exclude public holidays?
Yes. You can specify holidays to exclude, so the count reflects your actual working calendar rather than just removing weekends.
Why not just count calendar days?
Because commitments are often defined in working days. Weekends and holidays can shorten a window significantly, so counting business days gives a realistic deadline.
Does it include the start and end dates?
It counts the working days across the range you enter; use it to see the number of workdays between (and around) your chosen dates for planning purposes.
Is the calculation done privately?
Yes. It runs in your browser, so the dates and holidays you enter are not transmitted anywhere.
