About this tool

Glassmorphism is the frosted-glass look — a translucent panel that blurs whatever sits behind it, with a subtle border highlight and soft shadow. This generator lets you design that effect visually, adjusting the backdrop blur, opacity, border shine and depth shadow with a live preview, and copies clean, cross-browser CSS.

The effect depends chiefly on the backdrop-filter property, which is fiddly to tune by hand because the blur, background opacity and border have to work together to read as glass rather than as a plain translucent box. Seeing it live over a background makes those adjustments obvious.

It runs in your browser and outputs CSS with no external libraries. Use it for cards, navigation bars, modals and overlays where a frosted panel adds depth — just remember to test over the actual content it will sit above, since the effect only shows when there is something behind it.

Frequently asked questions

What is glassmorphism?
It is a UI style where a panel appears as frosted glass: translucent, blurring the content behind it, with a light border highlight and a soft shadow for depth.
How is the frosted effect achieved in CSS?
Mainly with the backdrop-filter property (a blur) combined with a semi-transparent background and a subtle border. The tool tunes these together and outputs the CSS.
Does it work in all browsers?
It generates cross-browser CSS, but backdrop-filter support has varied historically, so test in your target browsers and consider a fallback background where needed.
Why does my glass panel look opaque?
The effect only shows when there is content behind the panel to blur. Over a plain, matching background it can look like a flat box — preview it over real content.
Is it done in the browser?
Yes. It runs locally and needs no libraries, so nothing is uploaded.
