About this tool

Instagram’s default feed post is a 4:5 portrait image, 1080 × 1350 pixels, which takes up more of the screen than a square. This maker opens a blank canvas at exactly that size or lets you start from templates made for the feed.

Your profile grid shows each post cropped to 3:4, so the sides of a 4:5 or square post are hidden there. Turn on the grid preview in the editor to see how the post will look on your profile before you share it.

What size should an Instagram post be?
1080 × 1350 pixels (4:5) for a portrait feed post. Square posts are 1080 × 1080 and the newer grid-native size is 1080 × 1440 (3:4).
