About this tool

Server-Sent Events (SSE) stream data from a server to the browser over a single long-lived HTTP connection — the mechanism behind live updates and, increasingly, streaming LLM responses. This inspector connects to an EventSource stream and shows each incoming frame: event types, IDs and raw payloads, as they arrive. It also includes mock presets that simulate streaming, such as OpenAI-style completion tokens and market tickers.

Debugging streams is hard because the data arrives incrementally and disappears; seeing every frame laid out, in order, makes it possible to understand what the server is actually sending and where a stream breaks. The mock presets let you develop a client against realistic streaming behaviour before the real endpoint exists.

It runs in your browser. Use it to debug an SSE endpoint, understand a streaming API’s frame format, or prototype a client for token-by-token LLM output.

Frequently asked questions

What are Server-Sent Events?
A standard for a server to push a stream of events to the browser over one long-lived HTTP connection, used for live updates and streaming responses such as LLM tokens.
What does the inspector show?
Each incoming frame with its event type, ID and raw payload, in order, so you can see exactly what the stream is sending.
Can I test without a real server?
Yes. It includes mock streaming presets, such as OpenAI-style completion tokens and market tickers, so you can develop against realistic data.
How is SSE different from WebSockets?
SSE is one-way (server to client) over HTTP and simpler, while WebSockets are bidirectional. Use the WebSocket tester here for two-way connections.
