Unit converter

Converts between the units people actually look up, across six categories. Temperature is handled with proper offsets rather than a single multiplier — the reason many converters will happily tell you 0 °C is 0 °F.

About this tool

A single converter for the measurements people actually look up: length, weight, temperature, volume, data and speed. Rather than hunting for a separate page per conversion, you pick a category and convert between its units directly — kilometres to miles, kilograms to pounds, litres to gallons, megabytes to gigabytes and so on.

Temperature is the one that trips up naive converters, and this one handles it properly. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin do not relate by a single multiplier — they have different zero points — so converting requires an offset as well as a scale. That is why a careless converter will tell you 0 °C is 0 °F; here the offsets are applied correctly.

Everything is computed in your browser, so conversions are instant and nothing is sent anywhere. It is built for quick, everyday lookups where you just need the right number without ceremony.

Frequently asked questions

Which categories does it convert?
Length, weight, temperature, volume, data and speed — the six categories that cover most everyday conversions between metric and imperial units.
Why do some converters get temperature wrong?
Because temperature scales have different zero points, so converting needs an offset, not just multiplication. A tool that only multiplies will, for example, wrongly equate 0 °C with 0 °F. This converter applies the offsets correctly.
Can it convert data sizes like MB to GB?
Yes. Data is one of the categories, so you can convert between units such as kilobytes, megabytes and gigabytes.
Are the conversions done offline?
They run entirely in your browser, so they work instantly and the values you enter are not sent to a server.
Does it handle both metric and imperial?
Yes. Within each category you can convert freely between metric and imperial units in either direction.
