About this tool

WHOIS records show a domain’s registration details: the registrar, when it was created and when it expires, its status, and the authoritative nameservers. This tool queries ICANN RDAP and WHOIS to surface that information for any domain.

It is useful for checking a domain’s age and expiry (a domain about to lapse is a risk), confirming which registrar controls it, and seeing its nameservers. Domain age in particular is often a signal people want to verify — for a purchase, a partnership, or assessing a site’s track record.

Use it to research a domain before relying on it, monitor your own domains’ expiry, or confirm registration details. Note that registrant contact data is frequently redacted for privacy under modern rules, so ownership names are often not shown.

Frequently asked questions

What does a WHOIS lookup reveal?
The registrar, creation and expiration dates, domain status and nameservers. Registrant contact details are often redacted for privacy.
Can I see who owns a domain?
Often not directly — privacy rules and services redact registrant contact information. You can still see the registrar, dates and nameservers.
How do I check a domain’s age?
The creation date in the WHOIS record shows when the domain was first registered, which is how domain age is determined.
What is RDAP?
The Registration Data Access Protocol, the modern, structured successor to classic WHOIS. The tool uses it alongside WHOIS to return registration data.
