Generate batch Universally Unique Lexicographically Sortable Identifiers (ULIDs) and decode any existing ULID into its UTC creation timestamp and equivalent 128-bit UUID format.
Runs entirely in your browser
A ULID is a 128-bit identifier like a UUID, but with a crucial property: it is lexicographically sortable, because it begins with a timestamp. That means ULIDs sort in creation order as plain strings, which makes them convenient as database keys and for ordering records. This tool generates ULIDs in batches and decodes any existing ULID back into its creation timestamp and equivalent UUID.
Sortability is the reason to choose a ULID over a random UUID: random UUIDs scatter in an index and carry no time information, whereas a ULID both identifies and roughly time-orders a record. Decoding lets you recover when a ULID was created, which is useful for debugging and inspection.
It runs in your browser using a proper random source, so generation is instant and offline. Use it to create sortable identifiers, seed test data, or read the timestamp out of a ULID you already have.
